Who has seen this film? If you have what did you think? First of all, I want to say that I thought the film was amazing. And I want to make sure that people get the right message out of the film. Mel Gibson chose to focus on, primarily, the last 12 hours of Jesus' life.
Some people see the movie entirely different than other people. Especially non-believers. For one, a lot of people think Mel Gibson made the film to bank off of the Bible and many of it's believers. And I don't know Gibson personally but I feel deep down, that he truly loves Jesus and made the film the way he made it to show the world the truth as close as he could make it.
While I was watching it, my heart began to race and my body started to shake because I was so emotional. The one thing I admire about Mel Gibson, is that he does not believe in holding back to keep from shocking an audience. No one should keep back and hide the kind of pain and suffering Jesus went through. Because plain and simply, he did it for us, and while it was a terrible thing that happened, it was also the most beautiful. Because he suffered, and died for us. And if you hold back and hide all the suffering and pain he went through, you hold back and hide his true love for us. The film shows that it wasn't a walk in the park, and that Jesus really cares for us that much.
Not once through out the whole film did he think about turning back. No matter what they did to him, he would never turn his back on God or us. It shows his true love.
I saw the movie four times total, three times by myself, and once with my dad. I personally found the movie very very fascinating and very powerful. Some people think I'm a little odd to see it more than once, but I feel as if I'm looking through a window at the real thing. And it makes me feel so much closer to him, and makes me realize, just how guilty we all should be for our sins, and really thank him for his forgiveness and love.
