I once knew a boy who lived across the street and his name was Joshua. Now, Joshua was a very shy boy who didn't have any friends. I noticed one day that he was peeking out his bedroom window at me and my friends , I thought of inviting him to come along and get some pizza with us but then my friends stopped me saying that they had heard that he was supposed to be really weird and then told me not to invite him to join us. I believed them, so for the next few weeks I didn't invite him to come over and do anything even though I always saw him peeking out his window. one day that all changed when he was sitting outside on his porch steps crying , so I ran across the street and asked him what was the matter. he looked at me surprised I was even there and replied: "Nobody wants to be my friend". I said I'll be your friend. "Really?" he asked. "I was too afraid to ask you if you would be my friend, I thought you wouldn't like me" he said sadly.
Well Joshua, and I were best friends for seven years until him and his family had to move. The point of the story is this: 1. Don't believe everything you hear ( like I believed my friends when they told about Joshua ) and 2. You'll never know until you ask ( Joshua never asked me to be his friend ). so, go out there and find the Truth in all things, and take some chances for the good. and always do your best to serve the Lord!

Hehe, that's a cute story. I was actually a lot like Joshua... infact, I still am in some ways.
I remember when I was little, probably around 7 or so, I moved to a new neighborhood, and lost all of my friends as a result. Well, depressed and lonely, I always went to my front yard and threw my ball on the roof and waited for it to roll down to catch it. I did this almost every day to just kill time.
And every once in a while I'd see a boy around my age go outside and do the same thing, I kid you not. Looking back I often wonder if he did that on purpise just to get my attention. And if so, it worked. After a few weeks, I finally walked over to his yard and asked if him he wanted to play catch. And he ran over to me as if he was waiting for me to ask.
And we were friends ever since until the day I moved again.
It's funny when you think about it, because stories like these among children are actually common. Kids just like adults can be nervious, and inconfident about approching someone, even a member of the same sex just to toss a ball around. And if someone doesn't incourage them at this early age to be confident and not worry so much about rejection, they'll carry this "handicapt" of shyness all the way to their late teen years. And the older you get with it, the harder it is to get out of it.
So like you said, if you ever see someone that's always alone and shows low self confidence, it's never a bad idea to just walk over to them and talk to them. I've always said that we weren't designed to be alone, God made us to love eachother and to to love him. A life without friends, is a life without love, and a life without love, is no life at all.
That's what I believe.

Hey Ben, I am so glad that you enjoyed our story, and that you could relate to it aswell! I wrote the story 2 years ago based off of my own experiance. I was the boy though, without any friends, I would always see some teenagers hanging out with their friends but nobody ever came over and invited me along, this was just my dream of getting invited. but now that I am older I don't want to be that mean teenager who just passes the lonely kid by, I hope that if I see a lonely person sitting by themselfs, I hope that I will have enough confidence to go talk with them, if even for a moment, it would do alot of good, I believe. because I know that if even for a moment someone stopped and talked to me when I was that lonely kid, it would have done alot of good for me.
